Our mission is to provide quality educational programs to empower our members to prevent, and manage disease in an effort to improve their health and quality of life.

May is National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month.

Spring is a time to get outdoors and enjoy all that life has to offer. But for those with asthma or allergies, spring offers constant challenges in the form of asthma and allergy triggers that can make your symptoms worse.

Symptoms of asthma include sudden shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, and wheezing or coughing.

For people with asthma, having an “asthma management plan” is the best strategy to prevent symptoms. An asthma action plan is something you and your doctor develop together to help you control your asthma, instead of your asthma controlling you. By understanding your plan and following it, you will know exactly what to do in case of asthma “flare up” or an emergency. If you don’t have an asthma action plan, or if you have questions about your asthma, talk with your health care provider.
