This program provides information that enables patients to take control of their health through proper self-management of their diabetes. Subjects covered include, an explanation of what diabetes is, self-care guidelines, basic carbohydrate counting, meal planning, routine laboratory tests, foot care, infection precautions, stress management, medication use, self monitoring of blood glucose, and prevention, identification and treatment of complications. This program is for anyone with pre-diabetes or diabetes.
The public is welcome to come into High Desert Medical Group, Conference Room 1, at any time between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on the fourth Friday of the month to pick up free, up-to-date information.
Patients may be referred by a health care professional OR self refer to most classes.
